Frequently asked questions

Who can apply?

Current Master’s or PhD students from universities in the US, UK, Canada with a minimum of one year remaning in their academic program. Citizens from any country are welcome if they meet these criteria.

What experience do I need?

You should have academic research experience and feel comfortable guiding others through the research process. Conference presentations, TA roles, and publications are a plus. Most important is your ability to connect with students and communicate clearly in English (C1 or above).

What will I do as a Research Mentor?

You’ll meet with students one-on-one each week, help them define their research questions, explore literature, understand methodology, and strengthen their academic writing. Some students are just getting started, others are working toward publication. Advanced programs include collaboration with university faculty and opportunities for co-authorship.

How many hours a week is this?

Time varies by program and number of students. Most RMs dedicate one to three hours per student per week.

Is research really for every student?

Yes. This is a paid opportunity. Details will be discussed during the application process.

Do I need to pass a background check?

Yes. Because our students are minors, all mentors must pass a background check before they begin.
